In an effort to ensure that high school students graduate prepared for college and careers, Tennessee has joined a number of states to develop and implement Common Core State Standards (CCSS).
Tennessee is taking steps to enhance the quality of instruction and learning for its students. As the standards are being rolled out and implemented across Tennessee families who have children and youth with disabilities have any questions regarding the impact of the standards on students with disabilities. STEP has worked with the Tennessee Department of Education, Division of Special Populations, to provide information about the foundations of common core and how the needs of students with disabilities are being specifically addressed.
This webinar will be STEP 1 of a two-part process. First, we will present the training to families and interested individuals and at the conclusion of the webinar, we will be soliciting feedback and further questions that families have so that Tennessee Department of Education personnel can systematically answer the specific questions that families have regarding the impact of Common Core State Standards for Students with Disabilities.
